Emerald Ash Borer Found in Denver and Aurora Area - In 2025 The Emerald Ash borer (EAB), a destructive invasive insect, has been detected in Denver and Aurora, Colorado. The city confirmed the presence of EAB in the Congress Park neighborhood, putting millions of ash trees at risk. Denver is taking steps to mitigate the spread, including treating and removing infested trees and planting new, non-ash trees. Aurora forestry also announced finding EAB in 2025. 

In 2013, the Emerald Ash borer (EAB) was found in Boulder. In 2019, it was confirmed in Broomfield and in 2020, it was confirmed in Arvada. Most recently, it was confirmed in Erie in June 2021 and Thornton in June 2022. Confirmed in Denver June 2025!
